YWCA Northwestern Illinois launches Remote Learning Center – WREX-TV

ROCKFORD (WREX) — YWCA Northwestern Illinois is looking to help students who are learning remotely this year.

The group is launching the YWCA Remote Learning Center. It is available for students entering first grade through eighth grade. According to the group , the facility provides a structured schedule to help make sure students are able to stay focused and on-task while learning virtually. There will also be workers available to help the students.

“We think it’s important that kids have the experience of being around other children right now,” said YWCA Northwestern Illinois CEO Kris Machajewski. “Kids need the socialization of being around other children right now. They need the attention of someone as they’re going through this learning experience because this is something that they’ve never had before.”

The remote learning center is open from 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. For more information on it and to apply, click here.
